ESTÉE COCKCROFT: LASIK SURGERY
Estée Cockcroft (founder of Screen Smarts) is a mother of 3, a published author, a devoted trail runner, and a true lover of life.
Estée wore contact lenses for myopia (nearsightedness) since she was 16 years old. Her reliance on corrective lenses simply did not fit into her and her family's active and adventurous lifestyle.
In her mid-30's, Estée decided to consult Refractive Surgeon, Dr Botha, to discuss her options. She was an excellent candidate for LASIK Surgery.
In this video, Estée shares her LASIK Surgery experience as well as how freedom from corrective lenses has impacted her life.
LYLANIE LAUWRENS: EYELID PROCEDURE
I felt compelled to write this review because the reviews I read online were the reason I chose Bay Eye Hospital in the first place - and they did not disappoint.
From my very first call to make an appointment, the receptionist was friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful. Being able to speak Afrikaans was an added bonus and immediately made me feel at ease.
I was fortunate enough to get an appointment with the renowned Dr Theunis Botha, and I can confidently say that his reputation truly precedes him.
I had been struggling with my right eye for months. It was painful and constantly felt as if something was stuck in my eye, 24/7. I first visited my optometrist and got glasses - no relief. Then I saw my GP and was prescribed multiple medications - still no improvement. In total, I spent around R7,000 and was right back where I started.
I waited a full month for my appointment, literally counting down the days. But oh, was the wait worth it.
From the moment you walk into reception, you are greeted with genuine friendliness and warm smiles. I honestly can’t recall seeing a single person without a smile. The same welcoming atmosphere continues throughout the hospital. When those glass doors open, it truly feels like you’re walking into heaven. I have never experienced such a caring and friendly group of people in one place. My first thought was “wow” — my second thought was “wow, wow.”
To Dr Botha and his team: thank you for your compassion, for truly listening, and for digging deeper to find, fix, and resolve my eye issue. Just a few days later, my eye looks and feels amazing, with no visible mark where the incision was made.
I cannot express my sincere gratitude.
Changing lives - one eye at a time. Thank you.
MAGDALENA (LENIE) NELL: CATARACT SURGERY
Since Grade 1, Lenie had to wear corrective lenses for severe hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. In her 70’s, Lenie’s cataracts began to further affect her vision. She was an excellent candidate for cataract surgery.
Cataract surgery offers the significant benefit of correcting refractive errors such as myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. This works by replacing the clouded lens with a precisely chosen intraocular lens (IOL).
Undergoing cataract surgery was, therefore, not only a means to remove Lenie’s cataracts, but also an opportunity to correct her life-long refractive errors.
At 74 years of age, Lenie no longer has to wear corrective lenses when doing what she loves most - hiking! She can walk with confidence and fully experience the beauty of her surroundings.
Lenie, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We wish you countless kilometers of hiking, and many years of clear vision, ahead!
